My name is Sarah and I am a professional artist, writer, and folk herbalist. My work has been published by Scarlet Imprint and Gullinbursti Press and has been featured in Clavicula Nox, Pillars, The CauldronWitches & Pagans, and Hex Magazine. I am a carver, painter, and illustrator working in the mediums of bone, wood, ink and paint creating original artwork, talismans, and ritual tools. Aside from all this awesomeness, I am most well-known for my herbal creations crafted from rare, organic and wild harvested plants: flying ointments, potions, elixirs, incense, smoking blends and more. The purpose of all my work is to teach as much as possible about the natural world in order to help reconnect us with the Earth and the spirits of the wild.

Sarah Anne LawlessI am a witch and embrace its full definition. I grow the poisonous plants associated with our art for millennia, I curse, I collect bones, I work rites of folk magic, and I read tarot cards, tea leaves and palms. I can be found in the woods,  under the moonlight by a fire and in forgotten graveyards digging up feral asparagus for my garden.  You  can also see healing herbs in my garden and hanging to dry in my home, soothing elixirs to heal a broken heart or cause sweet dreams in my pantry, and find me in my kitchen cooking delicious meals like the professional boss I am.

I just moved to rural Ontario, Canada with my husband and son where I work as a herbalist dispensing folk remedies and teaching classes. I was born and raised in the wilds and small towns of the Pacific Northwest from Cormorant Island to a stone’s throw from Alaska. Brought up on the folklore and fairy tales of my Irish and Scoto-Scandinavian ancestors, but also immersed in the myths, legends, and traditions of First Nations people, my work is heavily influenced by the lore, flora and fauna of both the Old and New Worlds. An animist and naturalist, my temple is the great old growth forests, my gods are the genius loci and the ancestors, and my familiar spirits are the animals, insects, plants and trees.

From Pagan Pride to conferences and festivals, I enjoy public speaking, hosting hands-on workshops, and have a decade of experience creating ceremonies for large groups. To book me as a speaker or ritualist for an event please visit the Events page for more information.  For in-depth interviews and media resources check out the Press page.
